Martin Freeman is better known as a Hobbit, or as the assistant to Sherlock Holmes, but this year he'll be a father carrying some precious cargo. Causeway Films has released the first image and clip of Martin Freeman in the Australian zombie pandemic thriller "Cargo."  Based on the short film of the same name, "Cargo" has been released in Australia and will soon be released in the UK, no word yet on when it will be released in the US. Bloody Disgusting was the first to share the video, and has the official synopsis of the film stating that "Cargo" is “…a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.

Fun fact: When I was in my final semester in college, the first day of my film class my professor showed us a few short films that included "Lights Out" & "Cargo." It would seem that with the success of "Lights Out" we could see a rising trend in Hollywood of short films being adapted to full length features. Enjoy the first clip to "Cargo" starring Martin Freeman below, also check out the short film, it's certainly worth your time!
