Fernie in the Field – Father’s Day Edition Featuring Local Dads

I am a father, so here's my best advice to fathers raising a newborn: Be gentle, be patient, be loving. Always be there.

In America, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. So, I decided to go around and ask people 'Who's Your Daddy?' Actually, it was more like 'name that famous dad.'

It all started back in 1909 when Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day". It's estimated that there are 70.1 million fathers in the U.S. Most dads don't want a gift or anything special. They just want to spend time with their kids.

I encourage you to join President Obama and take the pledge to be involved in the lives of your children and be a positive role model for children in your community.
