A female student at Cherryville High School in North Carolina was kicked out of her senior prom just because she decided to wear pants instead of a dress. Do you think this was fair?

Shafer Rupard, a senior at Cherryville High was approached by a teacher and asked to leave during her prom. She decided to wear red jeans, a black dress shirt and a hat to her senior prom instead of a gown because she wanted to "feel comfortable in her own skin."

As soon as she reached the dance floor, a teacher tapped her on the shoulder and to ask her to leave.

"The teacher tapped me on the shoulder and said she had a problem with what I was wearing," said Rupard. "I thought it was because of the hat or the leather jacket and I was like well I'll take those off and she was like no, it's the pants."

Rupard's mother, Shawn McQuaige has reached out to school officials for answers on why her daughter was dismissed from prom, but still hasn't received a response.

McQuaige also went to the assistant principle with the student code of conduct and prom invitation to check for a dress code, "She looked at it with me and she said you know what you're right there is no dress code here."

School officials still haven't apologized for their actions and are on Spring Break, so we will have to wait to see if Rupard will every get her apology.
