The fellas came out to Hangtown as well, with James Stewart taking a win and showing off that shiny new Suzuki!  Bubba said he didn’t come to race but to “learn the bike” … maybe he’s finally figuring out that running wide open all the time is not all it takes to win!

Yesterday, The Grimlords MC were out and about!  I love the way they do their run … you register, ride out to Plainview Lakes … then party!  All night if you want as camping and fishing await you there!!  Seemed like a pretty good turnout; thanks to all the riders that came out to support  The Grimlords and the Adult And Youth United Development Association.

Next weekend, ride out to Wet n Wild for Balloonfest 2012 with El Pasos best rock!!

We’re in the red zone now … Balloonfest is this weekend!!

Over the years, we’ve had a lot of fun at Balloonfest. On stage and off, on air and off, behind the scenes; there’s always something screwy going on.  Sometimes the whole show is a gag! 

For example; remember the year Beatallica rocked Wet N Wild?? 

They were a riot!! 

For those of you that weren’t there, these guys fuse songs by The Beatles and Metallica.  (The Thing That Should Not Let It Be, Garage Days Night, Hey Dude, Hero Of The Day Tripper, etc…) 

Oddly enough, it’s pretty damn cool! 

At our show, they wore suits like The Beatles wore, but with ’bell bottoms’ and they wore wigs to make them look a bit more Metallica-ish.  (The bass player even had one of those hofner basses like McCartneys’.)  The singer does James Hetfield as well as Hetfield does!  (He did one of the funniest interviews I’ve ever heard for us that day; shifting in and out of “Hetfield” throughout the whole thing!!)

With all the rumors swirling regarding the recent postponement of over 30 Van Halen tour dates, someone from the band is finally speaking out on the subject to comment on the true impetus behind the change in schedule.

In a newly released video, David Lee Roth donning overalls, a plaid shirt and accompanied by his adorable dog Russell, checks in from the woods “just north of Minneapolis.”

Roth starts off by crushing the rumors that the band isn’t getting along, saying, “the band is getting along famously, better than we have in quite some time, and I think the shows reveal that through the miracle of YouTube.” He also said they’re having a hell of a time on tour and that it translates into the music.

“As usual we bit off more than we can chew when it came to scheduling. The band is winning but our schedule has been sidelined for unnecessary roughness,” explains Roth with his signature flair. “If we continue past July 4 and all the way into Australia and Japan then we’re asking for the robot zombie tour.” Roth admitted they are nowhere near that point just yet but they are going to take a break to avoid reaching that stage of exhaustion.

He said they plan to come back around, and the tour is scheduled for a two year run. So Diamond Dave assures everyone, “Stay tuned, and we’ll see you down the road in just a little bit.”

Last night’s (May 19) season finale of ‘Saturday Night Live’ lived up to the hype – at least for music fans. The legendary Mick Jagger returned to the show to host in addition to performing a bevy of all-star music performances including songs with Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire and guitar great Jeff Beck.

Foo Fighters, who were in town for their headlining gig at the annual Bamboozle Festival at Asbury Park in New Jersey, joined Jagger onstage for a two song Rolling Stones medley of ‘19th Nervous Breakdown’ and ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It).’

Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins and the Foos were a perfect backing band for Jagger, matching his high energy note for note and seemingly having a blast playing together. Grohl provided back-up vocals throughout the medley as well.

The Foo Fighters arrived for their special SNL appearance via helicopter after their 20 song set at Bamboozle that kicked off with ‘All My Life’ and ended with ‘Everlong.’ A band that always gives 100 percent on stage, they definitely saved enough gas in their tanks for their performance with Jagger. Balloonfest artist P.O.D singer Sonny Sandoval caught up with Loudwire at Rock on the Range 2012 in Columbus, Ohio, earlier today (May 19). The frontman dished on P.O.D’s new album ‘Murdered Love,’ which is due July 10 via the band’s new label Razor & Tie Records.

Sandoval also talked about some of his musical “homies” who appear on the record, as well as the false personae of some of today’s rock bands. After their appearance on ROTR, P.O.D. have a few shows on the horizon with RED, Love and Death (Brian ‘Head’ Welch’s new band) and more. For a full list of dates, go here.

P.O.D. have been around for the better part of two decades already. What kind of advice would you give young bands who are just up and coming?

With rock ’n’ roll and touring comes a lot of good and bad decisions. These guys who are 21, they’re out there and they’re not indestructible. The history of rock ’n’ roll tells us and so a lot of these guys are on this road to destruction. Being in this game for 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of it and it rips my heart apart because there’s so much more to life than just “Look at me, I’m in a rock band, I like chicks, I like gettin’ high and wasted.” That only lasts a season bro.

That all seems to be getting kind of playing out again. I know it got like that in the ’80s before grunge, and now it’s back to those same themes again.

It’s like it’s always full circle. Somebody thinks, “Hey, if I act like Jim Morrison and I look like the Doors and sound like the Doors and even fake that I’m on ‘shrooms right now, I might get a interview” and it’s happening. It’s fake. These guys are walking around with the same bottle of Jack they haven’t even sipped on just because they think it looks cool. It’s like gimme a break. I’m so over it, dude.

You got some guest appearances on the new album. Tell us about some of the people on there.

My boy Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed is on a real heavy track called ‘Eyes.’ My homie Sen Dog from Cypress Hill jumped on a real hip-hop, funky track and then my boy Sick Jack. He’s from an underground L.A. hip-hop group called Psycho Realm and he’s on there. Then I actually talked to Chino [Moreno] from Deftones and he was gonna jump on a track, but he got married. They’re doing their new record.

He’s been busy. He’s got Crosses going on and he’s doing stuff with Deftones.

He’s so busy, but he’s like “Homie, I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it.” [Laughs]

I heard he’s got another project going too…

That guy’s a madman. He’s got all kinds of stuff. He promised to get on a track, so we’re gonna hold him to it. Who knows, if this record takes off, maybe we’ll just come have him sing the hook off of one of the songs and put it out there for fun.
