EP Police Need Help To Identify Driver In Deadly Hit & Run Crash

The El Paso Police Department needs help to identify a driver in a deadly hit and run crash from this summer.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday July 23rd, a man was crossing the street at the 9300 block of Diana Drive when he was hit by a vehicle. 60 year-old Mario Chavez was crossing the road not in a crosswalk and was hit by a red truck. According to KVIA, police said the driver of the vehicle didn't render aid to the victim and left the scene. Chavez was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The El Paso Police Department is now looking for the driver of the red truck. Investigators believe the truck is a small to mid-size type truck.

This was the 41st traffic fatality of 2016 compared to 29 at the same time last year.
