El Paso, if you didn't know, is where marijuana was first criminalized. Now, thanks to a sharp rise in the number of El Pasoans who are pro-pot and groups like El Paso Norml, we could soon decriminalize it. Some El Paso big-wigs have even been helping the cause.
- State representative Marisa Marquez introduced a medical marijuana bill.
- State Representative Joe Moody, proposed a bill to decriminalize possession of small amounts.
- US Congressman Beto O’Rourke co-wrote a book calling for drug policy reform and was elected partly because of his pro-marijuana stance.
