El Paso’s Legendary ‘Chico’s Tacos’ Hits The Big Time In ‘Texas Monthly’
Chico’s Tacos is an El Paso institution. There is no substitute for their rolled tacos in sauce, covered with their one of a kind shredded cheese. Texas Monthly, the magazine bible of the Lone Star State, gets a little sauce on it’s chin with an ode to the best known restaurant in the city.
Jazmine Ulloa is a former El Pasoan who decided to spend a few hours at the ground zero of the single orders, the original Alameda site of Chico’s Tacos. She was back in town for Thanksgiving, and hung out at the always busy Lower Valley location. Her description of the decor, the crackling of the microphone as orders are called out, and the non-stop stream of people even into the wee hours of the morning, is spot on.
She paints a very vivid, and loving, picture of the El Paso restaurant chain that is often imitated, but will never be duplicated! Check out the story while you chow down on a couple of single orders. Jazmine knows why that’s the only way to order your Chico’s fix!
Viva Chico’s Tacos!!!!
