Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, May 1 – May 3, 2015. Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks:

FRIDAY:

Moore’s Greater Shows Carnival – Rides, games and of course, carnival food! 5 p.m.- midnight in the Cohen Stadium parking lot. Admission is FREE, ride tickets are $1 or $25 for a wristband good for unlimited rides. More Details

Food Truck First Fridays ‘Trucko de Mayo’ – Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring food trucks, live music, and a Beer Garden. 6 p.m. to midnight at the I-10 Flea Market & Fair behind Cowtown Boots, 11451 Gateway West. More Details

Alfresco! Fridays – Fresh-air performances from local bands playing various genres of music. 6 p.m. on the Convention Center Plaza. FREE. Tonight, Azucar (Latin variety). More Details

Friday at the Fire – Live music by local bands set against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing at Ft. Bliss outdoor fireplace. 6 – 11 p.m. FREE. Tonight, Chris Baker (country).

Public Ice Skating– Get your glide on in the area’s largest public ice skating rink. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Sierra Providence Event Center, 4100 E Paisano, behind the El Paso County Coliseum. Cost: $8, $6 Military. Admission includes skate rental. More Details

UTEP Dinner Theatre Presents ‘Mary Poppins’ – One of the most popular Disney movies of all time staged as a musical. Show time is 7 p.m., 2nd Floor UTEP’s Union Building West. Ticket prices vary. More Details

La Parada – The indoor/outdoor monthly social party features live music and live art. 8:30 p.m. at the San Carlos Building, 501 Texas. Admission is $5. More Details

SATURDAY:

Farmers Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The “producers only” market features area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas. 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE admission. Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. Wet-n-Wild Waterworld - El Paso’s 60-acre water park features more than 25 rides and attractions, and the largest wave pool in Texas. 8804 South Desert Boulevard, Anthony, Texas. Gates open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. Admission prices vary. More Details

Sun City Bike Fest IV - Live music, food and merchandise vendors, and more. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Barnett Harley-Davidson, 8272 Gateway East. $10 admission, kids under 12 FREE. More Details

Freedom Fest at Freedom Crossing – live bands, food vendors, beer tents as well as a variety of family activities including carnival games and rides, inflatables, and magic shows. Battle of El Dorado Marching Band Competition – Teams from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will perform shows most often seen on national TV during college football halftime shows. The competition includes Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and Prairie View A&M. 2 p.m. at UTEP’s Sun Bowl Stadium. Ticket prices vary. More Details
