Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, December 20 – December 22. Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks:

FRIDAY:

Fred Loya Christmas Light Show – The nine minute holiday light show features over 230,000 lights synchronized to music. Showtimes are 6, 7, and 8 p.m. Mr. Loya’s house is located on the East side at 120001 Paseo de Oro, one block north of Montwood, off Bob Mitchell. Free. More Details.

Horse Racing – The live horse racing season is underway at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino. Post time is 12:15 p.m. Free general admission and parking. More Details

Friday at the Fire – Line Dancing Night with DJ Darrin against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing outdoor fireplace. 6- 11 p.m. Free.

El Paso Playhouse ‘Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ – El Paso Playhouse presents the holiday play ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’. 8 p.m. at the El Paso Playhouse, 2501 Montana. Tickets are $10, $7 military/students with ID. More Details

‘A Christmas Carol’ – The UTEP Department of Theatre and Dance presents their annual adaptation of Charles Dickens’s Christmas classic. 7 p.m. in the Fox Fine Arts Wise Family Theatre. Ticket prices vary. More Details

Abundant Living Faith’s Christmas Celebration – The annual Christmas production features a full orchestra, dancers, flying angels, live animals, the Grinch and more. 7 p.m. at Abundant Living Faith Center, 1000 Valley Crest. Free. More Details

El Paso Youth Ballet’s ‘The Nutcracker’ – El Paso Youth Ballet’s annual presentation of the classic “The Nutcracker” ballet. 7:30 p.m. at UTEP’s Magoffin Auditorium. Ticket prices vary. 747-5234

‘The Spirit of Christmas’ Holiday Pageant – Cielo Vista Church’s annual Christmas production featuring Bible stories in a musical presentation. 7:30 p.m. at Cielo Vista Church, 3585 Lee Trevino. Tickets $5. More Details

SATURDAY:

Luminarias & Posada Festival – 5,000 luminarias will light the Mission Trail along Socorro Road in San Elizario beginning at dusk. The 8 mile route begins at the Ysleta Mission and ends in the San Eli Plaza and includes all three Mission Trail churches. 4:30 to 11 p.m. Free. More Details

Wyler Aerial Tramway Hosts Santa – Spend the afternoon with Santa at the Wyler Aerial Tramway and have your photo taken with him from high atop Ranger Peak. Noon to 7 p.m. at The Wyler Aerial Tramway State Park, 1700 McKinley. Entrance is free, Tramway tickets $8. More Details

Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. Winter Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The “producers only” market features area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas.
