After 4 1/2 years, an El Paso original is sadly closing their doors forever.

Kipps Cheesesteak opened their doors years ago, and since then, the restaurant has become an El Pasoan favorite. The restaurant is known for its friendly staff and delicious original treats. I love going down there and grabbing myself a delicious sloppy joe, or an amazing philly cheesesteak sandwich. The owner Kipp has always been super friendly and willing to have a good conversation with anyone. Sadly, this morning Kipp announced via Facebook that he will be closing the restaurant this Saturday. His Facebook post said:

With great sadness and regret, I must announce that Kipps Cheesesteak will be closing its doors permanently at the end of this week. A combination of persistent and increasingly difficult market conditions and extraordinarily challenging personal circumstances have taken their toll. After months of fighting an uphill battle and doing absolutely everything within my power to save it, it would seem that the inevitable truth has finally arrived on my doorstep. It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve you all over these last four and a half years. Second only to being a father to my son, KiPPS has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Truly a labor of love, it has provided a sense of accomplishment and personal pride the likes of which I have never known, and to that end, we have not failed. I would like to thank every single person, whether you were here just once or a thousand times, for allowing this beautiful and unlikely dream to happen, because without you, it wouldn’t have been possible. We will sell food until there is no more, and 100% of the food sales from now until the last crumb is gone will go to fulfill my obligations to my employees who have always been the true magic behind KiPPS, the very legs I stand on. Thank you guys. I will also be selling many of the amazing artifacts and memorabilia that hang from our walls as well as the furniture and equipment. So please, don’t be a stranger….Come on down and say Hello or Goodbye, or maybe just to be a part of the continuing conversation that has gone on for four years, but will come to an end this Saturday. So for the very last time, I humbly invite each and every one of you to come on down and…Eat at KiPPS! I love you guys.

I'm sad to see such a wonderful El Paso establishment close their doors. I also wonder if the construction in Downtown El Paso had anything to do with Kipps closing their doors. I encourage El Pasoans to go to Kipps this one last time, to enjoy this El Paso original and show your appreciation and thank Kipp for all these years.
