The El Paso Police Department is warning El Pasoans of burglars in the area, posing as contract workers to get on your property and potentially steal your stuff.

The El Paso Police Department sent a press release notifying El Pasoans to be cautious of potential burglars in the city. In the past week, there have been two incidents where burglars pretended to be contract workers to get onto homeowner's property and into their homes and steal valuables.

The two incidents involved elderly residents that allowed two men onto their property after the men said they needed to access to the backyard to prune trees or other types of work. One case involved a suspect distracting the home owner, while the other snuck into the home and stole valuables.

The El Paso Police Department is warning home owners to be cautious of individuals offering services or seeking access to your property or home. If you have a suspicious individual or encounter a similar situation, call police at (915) 832-4400. Police are also asking residents if possible to get a description of the suspects, their vehicle, license plate number and other information.
