For the rest of the month of August, EPPD are watching bikers closely.

The El Paso Police Department routinely picks certain traffic safety elements to place a special emphasis on. Seat belt use, texting and driving, drunk driving task forces, etc, etc.

Due to the high number of motorcycle related fatalities this year, the boys are now turning their attention to bikers. Specifically, they will be watching for speeding and weaving in and out of lanes excessively.

Between June 16 and July 25 of this year alone, there have been 7 fatal motorcycle involved collisions in El Paso. Non - car related motorcycle accidents are usually either speed or alcohol related.

Novice riders and veteran bikers as well, who would like to brush up on their skills can choose from a couple of motorcycle safety courses in El Paso. One is taught by El Paso Community College, and another by the Motorcycle Training Center.
