Are you looking to make a difference in our community and save lives? Well then a career as a firefighter might be job for you. The Fire Department is accepting applications for Certified Firefighter Trainees.

Applicants for this job must have:

  • 24 post-secondary semester credit hours in any field of study
  • minimum 2.0 GPA OR at least 2 years of full-time, active military service with honorable discharge
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have current Texas State Commission on Fire Protection Basic Structural Firefighter Certification
  • Also must have Texas Department of State Health Services Basic Emergency Medical Technician  Certification

Candidates who are chosen will go through a training where they will earn $13.95/ hour until they graduate. After graduation, trainees become firefighters and will earn $37,957.27 a year.
