Chihuahuas announced today that they will be paying tribute to the Diablos this season by wearing 1987 throwback uniforms for Wednesday home games (excluding June 14th, the U.S. Army’s Birthday presented by GECU). Diablos Days Wednesdays is sure to become one of the most popular theme nights of the regular season.

"We are extremely proud and excited to bring this iconic name and look back under the control of Minor League Baseball and more importantly, El Paso, its true home," said Chihuahuas Vice President and General Manager Brad Taylor in a press release.

The 1987 Diablos finished the season with a 75-59 record, good for First Place in the Texas League's West Division. That team featured LaVel Freeman, who flirted with a .400 batting average for much of the season (he ended the season with a .395 BA). Jesus Alfaro, George Canale, Ernie Riles, Tim Casey, and Jim Hunter were also on that 1987 Diablos club.

The Chihuahuas also announced that they will introduce three new caps for the 2017 season, including a solid red version. Fans can get a jump on the regular season and purchase Diablos t-shirts at the Chihuahuas Team Shop.
