Eddie Van Halen Once Begged Gene Simmons To Join Kiss

I wonder what makeup design he would have chosen.  Little stripes all over his face like his guitars maybe?

According to Gene "I created/invented/wrote/built/designed EVERYTHING" Simmons, Eddie Van Halen once begged him to join Kiss.  In the early 80's things were so band between Van Halen and singer David Lee Roth that Eddie wanted out and saw being Kiss' guitarist as his next best career option.

According to Gene Simmons:

"He was so unhappy about how he and [David Lee] Roth were – or weren’t – getting along. He couldn’t stand him. And drugs were rampant."

"Eddie said, 'I want to join Kiss. I don’t want to fight anymore with Roth. I’m sick and tired of it.'" "But I told him, 'Eddie, there’s not enough room. You need to be in a band where you can direct the music. You’re not going to be happy in Kiss.' I talked him out of it. It didn’t fit."

Oddly enough, also present at that meeting was a guy who would eventually land the job as Kiss' axeman, Vinnie Vincent.

What an impact that would have had on rock history huh?

Rock history certainly would have gone in a radically different direction but, for better or worse?  What do you think?
