Around 7:20 a.m., Eide snuck into the zoo and went into a restricted area to try and pet a tiger. The woman was able to get past the zoo's fence and security undetected before the zoo opened.

When Eide reached into the cage to pet the tiger, the animal bite her hand, causing severe damage to it. A friend drove her to the hospital, where she was aggressive with the staff. She received treatment for her injuries to her left hand, which are severe. KETV are reporting that she may lose part of her fingers.

Jacqueline Eide was cited for criminal trespass while she remains in the hospital for treatment. The tiger that zoo officials believe bit Eide is an 18 year-old Malayan tiger named Mai. Officials say they will not be quarantining the tiger and will not release the surveillance video of the incident.
