It sounds weird but, that's how it played out.

At Huntington Beach last July, Eugene Finney was hit by a shark. He hadn't noticed signs saying that swimming was prohibited due to a previous shark incident. (How big are these signs?) According to AOL.com, Finney said:

"I really have no idea what happened, but I knew something big hit me and I was pretty much instantly in pain. I could feel the heat on my back."

Still experiencing pain much later, he went to a doctor and a tumor was discovered on his kidney. Finney said, had the pain caused by the shark not sparked the doctor visit, he'd have never known about the cancer. The tumor was safely removed last month. The moral of this story? Don't wait for a shark to nail you before you get a checkup!
