Sad news coming out of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, also known simply as Coachella, had a death over the weekend but not by drugs or alcohol overdose. According to the DailyCamera, 23 year old college student, Jannik Andersen, died on Saturday night near the festival grounds. According to the Riverside County Coroner's Office, they received a call at 3:12 am about a man being struck by a train at the 45000 block of Pacific Street in Indio, Ca. The spot is about four miles from the Empire Polo Grounds, where Coachella takes place.

Anderson, a University of Colorado student, was pronounced dead at 3:42 am. His friends confirmed that he was in the Coachella Valley to attend the massive three day music festival. Anderson has attended previous Coachellas, and was excited to see AC/DC in particular this year at the festival.

It is unknown what the man was doing four miles from the concert venue, but many people decide to walk to their hotels, houses and also park far from the venue. Anderson's friend since high school and roommate Patrick Ciri had this to say about his roommate: "That kid could be best friends with 100 people. I guarantee he's changed everyone's life he's met."

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will continue this coming weekend with about 90,000 music fans expected to descend upon the polo field's lawns. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jannik Anderson's family.
