The movie turns 30 this year and Chicago is throwing a three day festival to honor one of the most iconic teen comedies from the 80s.

One of my favorite movies from the 80's was about a teen after my own heart; attempting to stay out of school to savor a beautiful day. I spent many days plotting to enjoy the same thing, however, our attendance monitor managed to always find me when I played hookey. Maybe I should have gone to places other than the Del Taco down the street from my house but hey those soft chicken tacos were the best.

Now the city of Chicago is celebrating Ferris Bueller's free spirit with a three day festival called Ferris Fest to honor the 30th anniversary of the movie. Ferris Fest will include a massive parade like the one in the movie, including the iconic "Twist and Shout parade sequence. There will also be tours taking movie lovers to various movie locations, including the Willis tower, Cameron's house in the movie, the high school the movie was filmed at and other iconic Chicago landmarks. There will even be an exact replica of Ferris Bueller's room that movie lovers can check out.

The festival will also include some of the stars from the movie. Ferris Bueller's parents were played by Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward and both will be at the festival participating in a Q and A session. The French restaurant maitre d' Jonathan Schmock will also be in attendance. Organizers of Ferris Fest said they will be also pursuing more actors and people involved in the making of the movie.

You can purchase three day passes for $300, which includes all the above activities as well as meet n greets, opening night party, a t-shirt and more There are also one day tickets available for both Saturday and Sunday.

For more information on the Ferris Fest, check out their website. Until I hear Matthew Broderick and Ben Stein are going, I'll hold off on purchasing my tickets. Stein may have been in the movie for less than three minutes but his line is gold. Check out the famous parade scene below.
