Wanting to find a memorable way to propose to the love of your life? Great! Stopping traffic on a busy freeway to do that? Not cool.

A man in Houston, Texas, is facing criminal charges after stopping traffic on a busy Houston freeway to propose to his girlfriend.

According to ABC13 in Houston, Vidal Valladares, 24, wanted to propose to his girlfriend Michelle Wycoff in a special way. So he got on the freeway with other friends in eight cars and they stopped traffic on the I-45 in Houston. The freeway does have a beautiful view of Downtown Houston, but it is also a major thoroughfare in Houston. Valladares says he group only stopped the traffic on the freeway for about 35 seconds for the proposal.

Some people thought it was sweet, but many found the entire proposal selfish and dangerous. After the proposal went viral, the Harris County District Attorney's Office decided to press charges against the mastermind, Vidal Valladares. Valladares now faces obstruction of highway, a Class B misdemeanor and spoke on the charges and entire situation.

"I'm feeling bad, and of course. I'm wanting to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems. That wasn't my intention in the beginning. I just wanted to do something different."

The couple said that they were surprised by the charges, but still think the proposal was worth it.
