KLAQ, KISS-FM, 600 ESPN El Paso, and the El Paso Convention and Performing Arts Centers are pleased to announce the headlining bands for the 2013 Downtown Street Festival.
Holy awesome, Batman. The Tumbler Tour, featuring the Bat Tumbler and Bat Pod from The Dark Knight Rises rolled into Streetfest 2012 in El Paso Friday night and I was able to get an up close and personal tour with the dude who has the coolest job in America - Jim Johnson, the transportation manager at Wayne Enterprises. Jim says he gets to drive the Tumbler every day. Check out why I couldn't be more jealous!
So, Fernie pointed out the other day that someone had posted a Missed Connection on El Paso's Craigslist about me. I responded to the fellow's post here on KLAQ.com. In his post, the man described every detail of the outfit I wore at Streetfest 2012 on Saturday night. Well, the author of my Missed Connection responded to my response and his response couldn't be any creepier.
The KLAQ Morning show sent Fernie on a mission at Streetfest...Do people actually know why we celebrate the Fourth of July?
I had a great time during Streetfest this past weekend! I saw a bunch of things that I enjoyed like the Tumbler, hot chicks, Q listeners and of course great music.
You know you've made it when you're the subject of one of Craigslist's "Missed Connections." And by made it, I do mean, a stranger has likely dedicated some hand lotion and tissues to thoughts of you. Fernie tipped me off that a Missed Connection was posted about me on the El Paso Craigslist page after Saturday night's Streetfest festivities.
The people, the shenanigans and the shoes that made me fall down completely sober! Well, maybe not completely sober.
The El Paso Downtown Streetfest was a huge weekend for El Paso with thousands of El Pasoans and Las Crucians (is that right? Las Crucicans? Las Crucianites?) congregating in downtown El Paso for two nights of fun stuff to see, great food, and amazing concerts from Theory of a Deadman, Candlebox, Filter, Kansas, Saliva and Blue Oyster Cult!
After the fireworks on Saturday, June 30th, Candlebox hit the stage and made sure everyone was worn out by the time they left the Streetfest! Kevin Martin and the gang rocked through their hits and everyone in the crowd was singing along and rocking with the band until late, celebrating the weekend with thousands of El Paso and Las Cruces friends!
Kansas hit the stage shortly after Blue Oyster Cult on Saturday, June 20th, and proved to everyone there why they're still around, kicking ass all over the world! They hit the stage with Magnum Opus and really got the crowd pumped up with the harmony parts between the guitar, violin and keyboards, and then kept things going with all the songs people were singing along to throughout the show!
Blue Oyster Cult kicked off the second day of the El Paso Downtown Streetfest, showing everyone how things are done at the rock show! They came right out with rockin' songs, screaming solos and vocal harmonies to show that they still have it, cowbell or no cowbell! They've got your prescription, and yes, the cowbell IS there!
