Thank goodness for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! How else would you know what to bake or wear or how to Pinterest all my cute Buccaneer things?

The idea in theory was a good one -- start a movement to attract more female fans to your football team. Instead, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have alienated some female fans with their new women's movement "Red."

The Buccaneers wanted this movement to help get more female fans and help them understand the game of football better. But I think they forgot exactly how many female fans football already has. Many female fans know just as much, if not, more than their male counterparts.

Here's how the Buccaneers Glazer Family Foundation Co-President Darcie Glazer Kassewitz explained the movement,

“Through exclusive offerings and experiences, our female fans will have the opportunity to not only add to their knowledge of the game they love, but also to help create a community through RED and own the way they enjoy football.”

Sounds wonderful, until they get into the specifics of how they are going to make this happen. There will be a special Red Launch party on Thursday, Sept. 10 where women will be given,

"gameday style tips from local area experts, and even a RED Lifestyle Lounge session to educate attendees on the art of incorporating their passion for the Bucs into their other lifestyle interests such as tailgating and home entertaining."

Red will also be giving women

"year-long educational experiences focused on providing a better understanding of the game...how to maximize their gameday experience; how to blend personal Buccaneer pride with the latest NFL fashions; as well as tips on sharing their experiences and ideas via social media platforms such as Pinterest."

There is even a Red Term of the Week so women can learn terminology used in football so they can chime in during games. Players also have videos up explaining things like how running back Doug Martin's job is to "run the ball."  Wow. Thanks.
