You can buy almost anything at the Bronco Swap Meet, including music. However, many of the CD's and DVD's found at swap meets and other open forums are illegal copies. Four people found out the hard way that pirating music is a crime, and the penalty is pretty stiff.

Many see it as a victimless crime but, it isn't. Artists are entitled to compensation for their work and when they don't get it, they're the victims. That's why it's considered a criminal act and why police, working with reps from the Recording Industry Association of America, staged the raid. Four people were busted and, according to the El Paso Times,

Each faces felony charges of labeling, which under Texas law is punishable by one to five years in jail and fines of up to $250,000 depending on the amount of unauthorized recordings.

What do you think about the potential punishment(s)?
