The worlds largest, spring-fed pool was recently closed due to structural damage but, it will be fixed!!

Fans of Balmorhea State Park were bummed when the park closed last summer due to concrete erosion. Thanks to donations from Apache Corporation and Texans all over the state, enough money was raised to repair the pool and reopen the park.

About a week ago, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation announced it had raised over $1 million dollars to fund the work. Then .......

On January 24, Apache Corporation executives presented a check to TPWD, matching the $1 million in donations and pledging an additional $1 million to create an endowment supporting future upkeep of the park beyond the maintenance funds provided through the state. - Texas Monthly

Right now, only the picnic areas are open as the campgrounds are being renovated.  There is no official timetable for the pool repairs yet but, it is expected to be open again soon!!
