Dave Grohl has fashioned a documentary about the famed Sound City Studios – Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind’ and Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumors’ are part of the studio’s repertoire, to name few. A super short and not-very-informative but utterly evocative trailer has been released. It’s more of a teaser than anything.
The previously unreleased video for Stone Temple Pilots‘ song ‘Cinnamon’ has found its way online. There was an original version filmed in summer 2010, but the band wasn’t feeling the result so the video was scrapped and it was reshot in late 2010 with new director. The song was the third single off 2010′s self-titled affair.
Trent Reznor, the mastermind behind the How to Destroy Angels project, which also features his wife Mariqueen Maandig, issued a short and simple tweet about the status of the band’s upcoming effort. It’s good news, since it means because more progress is being made and we’re closer to hearing the finished product.
If Lamb of God vocalist (and pseudo presidential candidate) Randy Blythe is one of your favorite metal singers/screamers and you happen to be an iPhone app enthusiast, then we have good news for you. The ‘Vox of God’ iPhone app is now available. It’s a voice modulating iOS app designed and developed specifically for the band to support the crushing new album ‘Resolution.’
Famed fashion photographer Terry Richardson showed some mercy on former actress (because, really, when was the last time she was in anything?) Lindsay Lohan by taking shots of her at L.A.’s famed Chateau Marmont. Call it a mercy shoot, because that’s what the results indicate.
It’s a celebratory time for the current and former members of Guns N’ Roses and not just because they are gearing up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, which is set to take place in April, or because Slash has a new album coming out in May! Two key members are celebrating birthdays this week, which was acknowledged by Slash via Twitter.
It’s been a rough couple of days for Anthrax, as the rhythm section has had to leave their current tour temporarily. Drummer Charlie Benante’s mother is terminally ill, and she just so happens to be bassist Frank Bello’s grandmother, so her son and grandson have put business on the backburner to be by her side, rightfully so. But it was also a rough couple of years for the band before popular vocalist Joey Belladonna returned to the fold, with new album ‘Worship Music’ sitting on the shelf after initially being recorded with singer Dan Nelson. Despite all the things that have happened with the album, guitarist Scott Ian is very happy with the end result.
Much has been made about Motley Crue‘s Las Vegas residency, the first of its kind in Sin City. The residency launched last night (Feb. 3) at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It’s such a landmark series of events that the mayor was compelled to christened yesterday “Motley Crue Day” in the band’s honor. Most Crue fans would agree that Motley Crue Day should be an international holiday, right?
The Fenix will rize in May and so will the D. Tenacious D, the humorous, metal-inspired act lead by actor/comedian Jack Black and his partner-in-crime Kyle Gass, will dust off their picks of destiny in order to release their third album, ‘Rize of the Fenix.’ The mock rockers plan to release the album in May.
Evanescence performed on ‘Conan’ last night (Feb. 2), with ‘Made of Stone’ making it to the live broadcast, while ‘The Other Side’ was reserved for an exclusive, web-only clip. We have them both, so you can watch and enjoy in case you missed it!
When Loudwire exclusively chatted with Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul, he shared some details about the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of Pantera‘s much-worshipped ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ album. We told him we listen to that album pretty much daily and that’s when he gave up the good news.
