Author Daniel Barbarisi's new book looks at how people around the world became obsessed with finding New Mexico millionaire Forrest Fenn's hidden treasure.

The story of Forrest Fenn and his hidden treasure somewhere in the American wilderness was the stuff of legend. After a terminal cancer diagnosis, Fenn miraculously survived and decided he wanted to inspire others to go out and enjoy life. Fenn filled a treasure chest with jewels, gold, and other precious items somewhere in the Rocky Mountains for some lucky treasure hunter to eventually find.

He penned his 2010 autobiography "The Thrill of the Chase" which contained a poem with clues as to the treasure's location. A decade went by and the treasure remained hidden until one lucky treasure hunter did the unthinkable and found the chest.

Journalist Daniel Barbarisi found himself becoming obsessed with the treasure hunt after he found out about it in 2017. The book follows Barbarisi on his own quest to find the inner workings of the treasure quest, a quest that became dangerous and even fatal for some.

Barbarisi was the lucky journalist who was able to meet and interview the ultimate winner of the hunt, Jack Stuef. Barbarisi's interview with Stuef was published in Outside Magazine but with his new book, we finally get the in-depth details about the search and how it became so many people's obsession.

The adventure of the Forrest Fenn treasure has had so many ups and downs, with people being injured and even killed, many getting lost in the woods, the treasure hunt being called a hoax, and more than one lawsuit. While the treasure has been finally found and the winner unmasked, the saga continues on.

Dan Barbarisi will be on the Buzz Adams Morning Show tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. and we will finally be able to hear all the details we wanted about the search. Find out more about Dan Barbarisi at his website.
