Two inmates escaped a New Mexico prisoner transport van last week and were on the run. Now, Albuquerque police have captured both men.


According to Albuquerque's KRQE, the 2nd inmate that escaped from a prisoner transport van has been captured.

Earlier this week, 2 inmates escaped a prisoner transport van on the outskirts of Roswell, New Mexico. The two men, Lionel Clah and Joseph Cruz, were considered armed and dangerous to the public. They were eon their way to the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility in Las Cruces when they escaped.

The men were spotted together a motel i Albuquerque. Joseph Cruz was the first inmate to be caught in Albuquerque near the Central and University area.

Earlier this afternoon, Lionel Clah was captured in Albuquerque. A woman called police after saying she was gone for a few days and believed there was someone staying in her apartment. After entering the apartment, police saw Clah's prison shirt and confirmed he was in the apartment and called for backup. A SWAT team came but Clah came out on his own about an hour later.
