Five football players and a coach were injured Tuesday afternoon, after lightning struck a tree, during football practice at Picacho Middle School.  One Las Cruces boy, between the ages of 11 and 14, is in an El Paso hospital with critical injuries.

After lightning hit a tree, it became grounded, and the six people hit the ground. Four other boys and one coach were also injured, and taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be critical. Las Cruces Public School officials told ABC-7 that they were participating in football.
